01Overview & history

Praid lies in Harghita County, in the heart of Transylvania (Székely Land). The place is best known for the Salina Praid — one of Europe's largest salt mines, where rock salt has been extracted for centuries. Today the vast underground chambers are also used for halo- and speleotherapy.

Access is via a gallery deep underground, where spacious salt halls house playgrounds, a café, a chapel and a spa area. Right next to the mine lie the salt mountain (Muntele de Sare) and the idyllic Aluniș valley — a landscape of salt formations, brine springs and walking trails.

02Remedy & composition

Praid's central remedy is the salty underground air: a constant, germ- and allergen-poor microclimate with salt-rich aerosols (halo-/speleotherapy). Salt brine is also available. The mine maintains a stable climate of around 14–16 °C with high humidity all year round.
